Different manufacturers use proprietary protocols and provide
product specific solutions suiting their equipment and not
an industry standard open protocol to consolidate a uniform
solution. There are no competitors for the IAMRs as on date.
Hence, the prices can not be compared. However, a few modem
manufacturers are in the market. The ICSA’s prices are
equal to or lesser by around 10% depending on the quantities.
ICSA has effectively developed a platform whereby it can leverage
on the skills in the Power metering space and serve other
explosive growth platforms like Oil pipelines etc. Also, its

ICSA developed
niche technology to service Power sector. The technology can
make use of various communication options. The products can
communicate using GSM (Data call / SMS / GPRS) / PSTN (Dial
up / Leased line) / RF / PLCC methods. The GSM platform ensures low
OPEX and high expandability. Also no additional equipments
like telephone lines/towers & big antennas are required.
The platform is easily scalable to thousands and lakhs of
units, without any major restriction on the available communication
network. The technology also involves minimal to no human
interaction: only specific and required data is received at
the base station as per the pre-programmed intervals.
Easy
configuration and flexible logics building
Logic implemented in these products is easily
configurable. The logic can be modified in the meter functionality
as per the requirements of the DISCOMs by changing the firmware,
which is not possible with the existing meter manufacturers.
Remote
programming
The functional modifications of the product if any
at the customers’ premises can be done by remote programming
of the firmware from the central station.
Intelligence
built-in for all types of existing meters
These products function irrespective of the type
or make of the energy meters existing in the field. Depending
on the type of meter, the corresponding commands will get
activated and the data will be collected and reported to end
